Hair Removal By Waxing in Redditch
Waxing is a temporary method of hair removal with results lasting approximately 4 - 6 weeks making it an ideal pre-holiday treatment. Warm wax is smoothed over the area to be treated, a paper or cloth strip is pressed onto the wax, and then briskly pulled back taking the hair with it, very like ripping a plaster off! It really isn't as painful as it sounds and the results are well worth it as not only does the hair stay away for 4-6 weeks, but when it does re-grow, it is very soft, not bristly as it is when shaved. It can be used on most parts of the face and body with the most popular areas for women being upper lip, chin, under arm, bikini line and legs. The most popular areas for men are back and chest. This is the cheapest and most convenient way to go about removing hair from large areas but you will need to have this every 4 to 6 weeks as opposed to Ellipse Intense Pulsed light & Electrolysis which is permanent.
Back Waxing
Don't be shy, a lot of men these days have their back waxed. It takes approx 30 minutes. The therapists perform a large number of these each week.
Waxing After Treatment Advice
Freshly waxed skin needs to be looked after for 24 - 48 hours after treatment regardless of the size of the area that has been treated. The hair follicles will remain open for up to 12 hours and heat will be retained in the skin, therefore, to avoid any complications the following advice must be adhered to:-
- No hot baths or showers for 24 hours
- No sunbeds or sun exposure for at least 24 hours
- Wear loose clothing after treatment
- Do not apply perfumed products for at least 24 hours
- Do not apply make-up over the waxed area
- Avoid touching the area that has been treated
- Do not swim for at least 24 hours
- Do not exfoliate for at least 24 hours
If you are suffer with ingrown hairs it is best not to squeeze them out of the skin, as quite often, this can lead to infection of the hair follicle.
We would suggest exfoliating the areas you have waxed twice a week to prevent ingrown hairs, you may also like to try applying a suitable solution to help raise the hairs out of the skin. Further advice and products are available at the salon.
